Project HEART Participant Boosts Her Confidence Hosting Monthly Craft Club
E.W. is a very active lady who regularly participates in Project HEART – a Willows Way program of evening educational classes that focuses primarily on health and/or safety-related topics such as cooking and nutrition, exercise and personal hygiene, driver’s education, building healthy relationships, improving problem-solving skills, health and the human body, and internet security and privacy issues, to name a few.
E.W. enjoys hosting ‘Heart at Home’ events where she welcomes others into her home to share information as she co-facilitates classes (as a paid instructor) with a Willows Way Training Coordinator. E.W.’s confidence has grown so much since she began the program two years ago that she now regularly organizes and leads other groups and events, like a monthly craft club. In February, E.W. hosted a ‘Heart at Home’ class in which she taught others sewing techniques to make heart-shaped pillows to donate to a local nursing home. The class was a huge hit with everyone who attended. E.W. said she hopes to host more ‘Heart at Home’ events in the future. The Project HEART program is truly fortunate to have E.W. as a class co-facilitator.
